The drawings are the outcome of 'an hour of my time' project, which are the result of spending an hour of my time watching YouTube. The video footage came about from searching the words ‘poultry, warehouse’ and then by allowing myself to browse intuitively through any of the algorithm’s suggestions, often unrelated to the original search.
In 'An hour of my time' Series, No XX, standard printer paper /170gsm/ was used. The slippery paper brought the ink flow from my rollerball pen to the surface. While my attention was occupied by watching the videos, the unconscious and the illogical connected myself and the created ‘doodles’ to the moving image of the horrific content presented.
The above have been created on a canvas textured paper, developed specifically for painting in acrylics/ 300gsm/. Using the rollerball pen on this paper allowed me to blur the boundary between the drawing and the painting, by watering ink down in certain areas of the work. This created an allegory to an online experience, where the border between fact and fiction easily blurs.
